The first ever giant panda genome map will hopefully be finished before the opening of Beijing Olympic Games. At present, work in sequencing genome is in progress, which is being conducted by Chinese scientists. Jing Jing from the Chengdu Panda Base will be the first panda to be sequenced in the international research program of the giant panda genome.
